Bioverda ‘did not receive excise relief'

NTR subsidiary Bioverda revealed yesterday that it was not awarded excise relief last year despite announcing a proposed €50 million biofuel production plant in Cork Harbour.

The plant, with the potential of providing employment up to 100 people directly and in transport and service provision, is currently at the pre-planning discussion stage with Cork County Council.

Bioverda chief executive John Mullins, speaking at the Teagasc national tillage conference in Carlow, said the €200m excise relief was awarded on the basis of answers to a written questionnaire from 102 applicants.
