Fischer Boel embraces blogging power

EU AGRICULTURE and Rural Development Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel has begun blogging to communicate directly with people across the member states.

She said there have been reactions from all corners of Europe to her first blog entry on her website.

She said she appreciated the quality of the entries so far and it is “a great start for a real debate”.

One response was from a university student in Brussels, who said it was reassuring to see commissioners are trying to get closer to European citizens.

“That is exactly what Europe needs today if it is to move forward,” he said.
