Smith set to open Teagasc conference

MAXIMISING market opportunities will be the theme of the Teagasc national conference for tillage farmers, to be opened by Food Minister Brendan Smith will open at the Dolmen Hotel, Carlow, on January 31.

Grain trader Mike Engelbach from Cefetra in Rotterdam, will give his perspective on the upward trend in grain markets and prospects for the sector.

Opportunities to grow crops for fuel and future use of biofuel production will be examined.
