BRITISH stocks fell to a four-week low, led by BP as oil prices declined for a third day and Bear, Stearns & Co cut its recommendation on the energy company’s shares.

Vodafone Group dropped after chief executive Arun Sarin said he is close to making an offer for India’s Hutchison Essar.

The FTSE slid 35.4 to 6,160.7.
