Virgin sees sales grow by 16%

VIRGIN MEGASTORES in Ireland achieved further growth during Christmas 2006 with a like-for-like sales uplift of 16% on the previous year and market share growth across all key formats (excluding online).

Irish band Snow Patrol ‘Eyes Open’ album proved to be Virgin’s biggest selling product of the year constantly topping the store’s charts.

Games sales grew by 47.5% on a like-for-like basis during December despite the launch of Sony’s PS3 slipping back until 2007 and the short supply of this year’s must-have Christmas gifts, the Nintendo Wii and DS.
