Energy roadmap reaches final stages

THE European Commission is in the final stages of preparing a Renewable Energy roadmap, which will include a progress report on the Biofuels Directive.

Agriculture and Rural Development Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel told Oxford Farming Conference that this work should give the biofuels sector a new push. But it is up to national governments to decide whether to allow tax breaks for the use of biofuels, within the framework set at EU level.

“Where member state authorities have taken a positive attitude towards this, the results have often been good,” she said.
