Minister reveals decline of 14 marts

A TOTAL of 14 livestock marts ceased trading over the past four years, Agriculture and Food Minister Mary Coughlan revealed in a written reply to a Dáil question.

She informed Meath Fine Gael TD Damien English that her Department’s records indicate that these marts were located in Cork, Donegal, Kildare, Laois, Mayo, Tipperary, Westmeath and Wicklow.

Ms Coughlan said during the same period one livestock mart commenced trading in Roscommon.
