UL awarded €3m for energy research

UNIVERSITY OF LIMERICK (UL) announced it received energy research funding of over €3m yesterday.

UL awarded €3m for energy research

Ten UL research projects in the areas of energy efficiency and conservation; biofuels and advanced conversion processes; wind and ocean generation and energy storage, were granted the funding under the Charles Parsons Research Awards, by the Minister Marine and Natural Resources Noel Dempsey, in Dublin.

Professor Vincent Cunnane, vice president of research at UL said: “This injection of funding will enable the university to put highly skilled fourth level graduates to work at addressing some of the most pressing energy issues facing Irish people today.”
