Development firm offer GAA club deal

AN offer of a large land-swap in return for a suburban sports playing pitch is about to be made to a GAA club.

Douglas GAA in Cork are being offered new pitches, a second clubhouse, flood lighting and training facilities, on over 20 acres, in return for one of their two current pitches.

The offer, valued at between €5 and €10 million, but which doesn’t include any cash, is from a Cork development firm, and may tie in with larger plans by the Love family for major new relief roads and retail schemes in the affluent village. Douglas GAA will be allowed to retain their main pitch and clubhouse under the proposal, to be put to members tomorrow night.
