CAPE Verde Development, the Cork-based company that focuses on holiday developments on the Cape Verde islands off the west coast of Africa, has begun work on a €2 billion golf and leisure resort on the islands.

Work starts on €2bn Cape Verde resort

The project, which will be developed in conjunction with the Irish company’s two local partners, Turim and Editur, will cover 425 hectares on the west coast of Sala, the main island in the area. The new Calheta Bay resort will feature two Ernie Els 18-hole championship-standard golf courses and the South African golfer will also put his name to some of the residences at the resort. Cape Verde has also enlisted international beach club resort development company, Nikki Beach, to help make the venture a world class attraction.

According to Cape Verde Development founder and director Tom Sheehy: “From the very start we have embraced a partnership approach which enables us to use expertise from around the world to deliver a high end product in keeping with all that is great about Cape Verde. Our new joint ventures with Ernie Els and Nikki Beach propels us to a new level of luxury. The Calheta Bay concept will, we believe, deliver a top 10 world-class resort.”
