Protected house sells for €2.7m

A PERIOD house in Cork city, on the edge of the emerging UCC dockland’s campus, sold yesterday for €2.7m, a full €1m over its pre-auction guide.

Rosenheim, on the city end of the Blackrock Road, sits on 1.2 acres, dates to 1822 and is a protected structure.

Pitched as a residential sale, it sold under the auction hammer, at a packed auction, with Hugh McPhillips of Marshs auctioneers.

The house was sold by the O’Sullivan family, of Sheehan and Sullivan business pedigree, and the company’s former coal yards are practically underneath the elevated Rosenheim, along Monahan Road.
