Amicus agrees to court hearing

AMICUS has agreed to a Labour Court hearing of its pension dispute with Bank of Ireland.

The union has a 93% mandate from its 500 members at the bank for a series of one day stopp- ages, but has agreed to postpone further industrial action pending the court hearing.

A date for the hearing is expected to be agreed within the next week.

Amicus and the BoI have agreed to request that the Labour Court adjudicate on three specific issues on changing and closure of pension schemes.

Amicus regional officer Colm Quinlan said: “Our fight is in search of an equitable pension scheme. Today’s discussions at the Labour Relations Commission suggest there is a way in which we can progress through dialogue at the Labour Court.”
