Magnet appoints new chief executive

He replaces Ingvar Gardarsson, who will continue his work as vice president for telco business development for Europe within Magnet’s parent company, Columbia Ventures Corporation.

Ken Peterson, executive chairman of Magnet Networks, said: “Ingvar has done a tremendous job, having built the company from an idea to a fully fledged nationwide provider overcoming many hurdles in the marketplace. Vern Kennedy’s proven track record makes him the ideal candidate to lead the company forward over the coming years. His appointment reflects our ambition and highlights the fact that we are pressing ahead with our plans to establish a truly competitive telecoms market in Ireland.”
