RESEARCH from Bord Bia reveals that Irish consumers spend an estimated €66m on organic food products annually and this figure is set to grow significantly over the next five years.

But only 40% of consumers agree that it is easy to find locally produced organic food.

Minister of State Brendan Smith said the Department of Agriculture and Food has approved €1.5m to develop the organic market over the next three years. National Organic Week starts on November 6.
