INCOME tax returns filed on the internet are likely to be higher than last year’s record of 65%, according to the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Director of taxation Brian Keegan said: “All the evidence points to an increased use of electronic filing of accountants this year. It could be 75% of all income tax payers will file on ROS, Revenue’s online filing service.” Taxpayers who file electronically and pay taxes electronically can avail of a 16-day extension to the October 31 tax return deadline.
