CSN prepare rival bid for Corus

BRAZILIAN steel group CSN was yesterday said to be preparing to trump the £4.3 billion (€6.4bn) takeover of Corus by Indian rival Tata Steel.

The Sunday Times said CSN has appointed investment bank Lazards to advise it over launching a counter-bid for the firm.

German steel group Thyssen Krupp was said to be interested and Russian rival Severstal will not table an offer because of its impending IPO.
