GREEN Isle Foods has once again lifted spirits at its British parent, Northern Foods, which has seen a mixed first-half to its current financial year.

Green Isle, based in Naas, Co Kildare, makes brands like Goodfellas Pizzas and Donegal Catch. It was a major contributor to the strong sales growth achieved by Northern’s chilled and frozen foods division.

The Leeds-based food group released a pre-close interim trading statement yesterday for the six months to the end of September. Overall group underlying revenue for the period was down by over 1% on the corresponding period the previous year.
