Yesterday was a record- breaking day with the ISEQ index jumping a further 79.22 to 8,427.75.

AIB closed 15c lower at e20.94 ahead of subsidiary M&T’s third quarter results today. Bank of Ireland gained 21c ending the day at e15.46. Irish Life and Permanent fell 5c to e19.60. Anglo Irish was 5c better off at e13.60 as it announced a deposit interest rate increase to 6% on a range of personal savings accounts.

The construction sector ended the day in positive territory. CRH jumped 30c to e27.40 following an acquisition announcement of a cement plant in north-east China.
