Turbine arrives at power station site

A state-of-the-art gas turbine which will form the heart of the Viridian Group’s second major power station in Huntstown, north of Dublin arrived on site yesterday.

The new 265MW power plant is due for completion in autumn 2007 and with the existing 343MW gas powered plant at Huntstown, will provide around 17% of the State’s total electricity requirements.

The Mitsubishi manufactured gas turbine, which weighs 372 tonnes forms a vital part of the new power plant at Huntstown. It was transported through the city via the M50 as part of a 107m long.

The power from the new facility will be sold by the Viridian company Energia to its customers in the business, commercial and industrial sectors.
