THE country’s fledging bioenergy industry was boosted yesterday with the launch of a new support network for energy-crop growers.

Farmers urged to grasp green energy option

Green Energy Growers Association (GEGA) said many farmers are unaware of the opportunities and indeed the pivotal role they will play in Ireland’s future bioenergy security.

GEGA director Ann Kehoe said the scheme will help growers to understand everything about bioenergy and ensure that all income opportunities are known before contracts are signed.
