Irish firm in €30m border control deal

BORDER control in Australia will be assisted by an Irish software firm, Daon, who provided identity assurance software in a €30m (AUS$50m) deal.

The Australian Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs signed a deal with the Dublin-headquartered Daon, which also has offices in Sydney, Washington, London and Dublin will work with global IT consultancy Unisys to roll out the border security project.

Junior minister for enterprise Michael Ahern TD said that the deal is the largest ever single contract to be won by an Irish company in Australia.
