OLDER workers are more productive and more reliable than younger ones, according to a new survey.

Calling for a review of the mandatory retirement age of 65, Chambers Ireland revealed the over 50s were less likely to take days off sick and work better with senior colleagues.

In its annual review of the labour force for 2006, the business federation found 43% of companies feel that older workers take less sick leave than younger employees.
