Dairy profit through breeding forum

MAXIMISING dairy profit through improved breeding will be the main objective of a Teagasc open day next Wednesday, September 13, on the Co Tipperary farm of Jim and Pauline Delahunty, the winner of the 2006 Economic Breeding Index (EBI) competition.

Dairy farmers will have an opportunity to see how profit has been increased on the dairy farm at Carrig, between Borrisokane and Birr, which also produces calf-to-beef and quality replacements.

A discussion forum on the new milk quota trading regime will take place. Department of Agriculture officials will outline quota system changes.
