Market down as stocks sold off

The ISEQ index lost ground yesterday as stocks were sold. The Dublin Exchange lost 75.54 points to close at 7,651.43.

Financials lost some of the gains realised in recent days with AIB falling 30c to €19.55. Bank of Ireland dipped 22c to €14.23 while Anglo Irish shed 9c to €11.51.

In the construction sector the trend was downward with CRH losing 39c to €25.61 and Kingspan closing 18c down at €13.64. Grafton ending trading 8c down at €10.30.

Ryanair fell 11c to €7.44 after yesterday morning’sterror alert in Britain.

Elsewhere, drinks company C&C slipped 9c to €8.63 with over 4.8 million shares traded. Continuing the downward theme, IAWS fell 29c to €14.76 and drug company Elan lost 4c to €11.49.
