French stocks down

French stocks declined for the first time in six days yesterday. Michelin & Cie, and BNP Paribas SA paced the retreat.

European Aeronautic Defence & Space Co gained after New Zealand said it will buy helicopters from a venture in which an EADS unit is a partner.

The CAC 40 Index declined 19.09 to 5,009.42.
