The ISEQ Index closed slightly higher, continuing on from the previous day’s gains despite very little news flow and the closure of the US markets for Independence Day.

Financial shares dampen ISEQ rise

The ISEQ Index closed slightly higher, continuing on from the previous day’s gains despite very little news flow and the closure of the US markets for Independence Day. The Dublin Exchange closed up 7.43 points at 7,559.36.

It was a mixed day for the banking sector with AIB adding 5c to €18.95, while Bank of Ireland closed 13c weaker at €14.00. Anglo Irish moved 5c ahead to €11.97 and Irish Life & Permanent fell 10c to €18.30.
