Beef kill surges to three-year high

HALF of the factories paid more for cattle last week (some increased by almost 3p/lb), while the balance paid the same or slightly less than the previous week as the kill surged to a three-year high.

Overall the prices balance out to hold the national average for R4L bullocks unchanged at 108.5p/lb with the average for R4L heifers at almost 109p/lb.

Donegal Meats paid almost 3p/lb more for R4L bullocks at over 111p/lb, AIBP (Waterford) up by 2p/lb to 111p/lb and Kepak (Clonee) also up 2p/lb at 111p/lb. Euro Foods was unchanged at 110p/lb. The biggest drop in price was a decline of almost 2p/lb to 108p/lb at Duffy’s (Gort), with Kepak (Watergrasshill) back 1.7p/lb at 107.3p/lb.
