Supreme Award is the Stuff of Legends

GUINNESS Ireland and WHPR were given the PRCA’s Supreme Award for Excellence in Public Relations, in particular for the recent Guinness Stuff of Legend campaign.

The judges said that since 1995 the “Guinness sponsorship of the hurling championship has consistently featured as both the most recognised and most admired sponsorship in the country while spontaneous awareness of the Guinness/hurling relationship is over 85%”.

In Dublin last night Taoiseach Bertie Ahern marked the achievements of the leading companies and public relations consultancies in the PRCA Awards for Excellence in Public Relations.

Eleven awards were presented from over 130 entries following final adjudication by a panel of business and media professionals.

PRCA members last year accounted for up to €60 million in annual turnover in Ireland’s public relations industry, said the association’s chairman Paul Allen.

“From that standpoint, it is worth challenging the typical stereotypes that are bandied around about our industry. The exceptional interest in this year’s programme, by leading Irish and international client firms, demonstrates that public relations has become a management discipline in organisations throughout Ireland,” he said.
