Changes to sheep tagging system

CHANGES to simplify the system of sheep tagging and registration have been announced by Agriculture Minister Mary Coughlan.

Ms Coughlan said the new formats meet EU requirements and will significantly reduce the amount of recording to be undertaken by flock owners. IFA Sheep Committee chairman Henry Burns said the changes would greatly simplify sheep tagging and registration.

Ms Coughlan said she would consider further measures that might be made to the system.
