Dan Dairies, based in Swillington, Leeds, has operated in Britain since 1992. It employs 14 people and has an annual turnover of about £3.5 million (€5.08m).

The company specialises in producing soft cheeses which it supplies to a number of companies, including bakeries and distributors.

Dan Dairies is of strategic interest to Dairygold’s ambitions to establish a strong position in the growing British and European soft cheese sector.

Rafael Bechar, one of the former owners of Dan Dairies, said the deal gives security to workers and provides more options for the future.

Dairygold Food Ingredients (UK) managing director Chris Edge said the acquisition is an exciting addition to the company’s current operations and supply capability.

“It provides a further range of excellent products to complement the core offering, together with providing access to first class production and product development facilities.

“Dairygold’s aim is to combine our existing market insight with additional innovative product design to offer customers added value solutions for their cheese ingredient requirements,” he said.
