End of clothing production looms

FRUIT of the Loom has ceased production at its Buncrana-based facility.

Some 35 cutters finished work at the plant a week ahead of schedule.

Approximately 50 staff will remain at the plant to dismantle the machinery. This will then be shipped to Morocco where all Fruit of the Loom production will be carried out. At its height, the firm employed 3,500 people in Ireland.
