Coughlan in US for agriculture talks

THE ongoing negotiations in the world trade talks were discussed at a meeting in Washington between Agriculture and Food Minister Mary Coughlan, senior personnel in the Bush administration and members of the United States legislature.

The meetings were part of a week-long visit by the minister to the US to promote foreign direct investment in the food industry in Ireland, and to open and promote Irish investments in the US, which was organised by Enterprise Ireland.

Ms Coughlan had meetings with the US deputy secretary of agriculture, Charles Conner, senator Saxby Chambliss, chairman of the Senate committee on agriculture, nutrition and forestry, and congressman Bob Goodlatte, chairman of house agriculture committee.
