Online wedding insurance launched

THE wedding industry in Ireland is worth more than €400 million per year and rising, according to Blue Insurance which has launched an online wedding insurance on www.weddinginsurance.ie, offering cover from €99.

Joint managing director, Ciaran Mulligan said: “With the average wedding costing about €25,000, it is surprising that, by and large, couples have not sought cover in case anything goes wrong.

“However I believe that the recent unfortunate event in Cork where a wedding dress shop closed without notice and left many brides without a dress and significantly out of pocket might alert people to insuring against this type of incident, going forward.”
