Providence considers Sony BMG move

PROVIDENCE Equity Partners is considering providing €2 billion to help fund a break-up of Sony BMG, a music joint venture between Japan’s Sony and German media group Bertelsmann.

Providence has a team drawing up a proposal to help Sony buy back the venture from Bertelsmann if the Japanese firm decides to increase its exposure in the music label.
