Decision urged on Irish Sugar site

LABOUR leader Pat Rabbitte has joined with local Labour deputy Joe Sherlock in calling on the management of Greencore to outline their intentions regarding the future of the site at their Irish Sugar plant in Mallow, Co Cork.

Decision urged on Irish Sugar site

“If it is the clear intention of the EU that no production of any kind would take place on the site, in order to avail of the EU Compensatory Package, then the Greencore chief executive must make a clear statement on this matter,” said Mr Rabbitte.

“It is my view that the Mallow site is well placed, with its existing infrastructure, to put in place a bio-ethanol production facility.”
