Airline threat over Ryanair ruling

Brussels-based no-frills airline Virgin Express said yesterday it would take the Belgian Walloon region to court if it tried to dodge a European Union ruling on state aid to Ryanair.

Ryanair was ordered by the European Commission in February to repay millions of euros in subsidies deemed illegal at its Belgian hub of Charleroi, which is controlled by the Walloon region. But Virgin Express said the region last month accommodated Ryanair by changing the rules on night flights.
