Inflation rate dips to 2.2%

ANNUAL inflation hit its lowest level since November 1999, dipping marginally to 2.2% from 2.3% at the end of October.

From month-to-month, the rate of inflation stayed unchanged, while the EU Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was also unchanged in the month.

Most notable changes in the year were a 10% price rise in alcohol and tobacco; a 7% increase in health and a 6.5% increase in the cost of education.
