ACCA names new president

THE body representing chartered accountants, ACCA Ireland, has named Gerard Loughnane, a Galway- based accountant, as its new president. He succeeds Frank O’Brien, a senior investment analyst.

Mr Loughnane was elected at the ACCA annual general meeting in Dublin, where members were told of the need for greater consultation between the accountancy profession and the Revenue Commissioners over proposed special investigations.

Mr Loughnane said the ACCA, together with other professional bodies, would continue talks with the Revenue Commissioners over the review of life insurance products.
