Hotels pool together in bid to make south-east Irish conferencing capital

SIX leading hotels in the south-east have teamed up to bid for a greater share of the lucrative conference market.

Hotels pool together in bid to make south-east Irish conferencing capital

The Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow and Rivercourt Hotel, Kilkenny have joined in the initiative with the newly-opened Lyrath Estate Hotel, Spa & Convention Centre, Kilkenny; Faithlegg House Hotel & Golf Club, Co Waterford; Tower Hotel, Waterford and Talbot Hotel, Wexford.

They have combined to produce a 36-page brochure marketing the region as a conference venue. Launched by Irish Hotels Federation president Dick Bourke, the South-East Conference & Incentive Guide provides details of the attractions on offer to delegates attending conferences and business meetings in Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford, as well as featuring specific information on the featured hotels.

The guide also includes information on the partners’ programmes that can be arranged for the guests of conference delegates at each location.

Speaking as he launched the brochure, Mr Bourke said that with competition for conferences among hotels never more fierce, it was an innovative and progressive approach for hotels in neighbouring counties to pool their resources and brand the region among decision-makers.

“The south-east has a lot of attractions, including accessibility; availability of adequate accommodation and modern conference venues; attractiveness to delegates and their partners and good rail links to Dublin and road access to Cork.

“The six hotels that have come together to produce this brochure are to be commended for the way they are pitching the region, as well as their individual properties which each offer specific pluses to event planners.”
