Bunzl buys Cork packaging firm

LEADING food packaging company O’Mahony Packaging has been taken over by FTSE 100 company Bunzl, in a deal valued at close to €3.6m.

A spokesman for the company said all 28 jobs at the Melbourn Road, Bishopstown plant in Cork are safe as a result of the takeover and the company hopes to expand its presence in the consolidating Irish packaging market.

Prior to the takeover O’Mahony Packaging was owned by Noel and Nora O’Mahony of Santa Helena, Goggins Hill, Ballinhassig, Cork and they will retain a consultancy relationship with the company.
