20% more job adverts in papers

The number of recruitment adverts in the national press rose by 20% to 18,085 in June, according to Bank of Ireland Business Banking’s Job Index.

BoI said the findings show that the jobs market was particularly strong in June, with growth across all job sectors with the exception of the professional sector, which was down 26%.

The technology sector rebounded strongly with a 216% rise with 1,018 advertisements placed. On a month-by-month, basis this is the highest number of IT recruitment advertisements placed since the index began in March 2002.

Cathal Muckian, director of BoI Business Banking, said the findings of the index are a positive indicator. “With the exception of a marginal decline last month the Job Index has shown an upward trend for the last seven months.”
