GlaxoSmithKline appoints Gent

Former Vodafone boss Christopher Gent was yesterday named by GlaxoSmithKline as successor to chairman Christopher Hogg.

The 56-year-old will join the board of the group as deputy chairman on Tuesday before stepping up to the top post at the start of next year. Mr Gent& will earn stg£400,000 and stg£100,000 in shares annually.
