NEW accounting standards will be a bigger logistical nightmare for Irish companies than the Year 2000 computer changeover project, one of the country's leading accountants said yesterday.

ACCA Ireland president Frank O'Brien said companies needed to take the introduction of International Financial Reporting Standards seriously but the new standards would increase uncertainty and lead to confusion and mistakes.
