Schering Plough MD resigns in surprise move

Schering Plough confirmed that Dr Colman Casey is to leave the company to “pursue other career interests” and will be replaced by John Howell, who runs the company’s animal health facility in Bray, Co Wicklow.

The decision of Dr Casey to leave the company has taken staff, who held him in high regard, by surprise. Earlier this year, the company announced the lay-off of 161 full-time jobs at the Brinny plant, near Innishannon. This latest cut to the workforce will leave 545 Schering-Plough employees at Brinny.
