Shell steps forward with gas terminal approval
"We are delighted to have received An Bord Pleanála's positive decision for Corrib," said SEPIL managing director Andy Pyle.
"We will now review the full report and associated conditions from An Bord Pleanála and assess what it may mean for the current plans for Corrib as a new integrated gas project. This decision represents a major step forward for the project."
Mayo County Council granted planning permission for the gas terminal at Bellanaboy Bridge, County Mayo, and associated peat deposition site at Srahmore in April 2004.
"We have worked closely with many experts in the submission of the planning application to ensure the project incorporates the highest technical and health, environmental and safety standards and we are pleased that both Mayo County Council and An Bord Pleanála are satisfied with our proposals.
"We welcome the fact that public scrutiny and input is an essential part of the Irish planning process, which has been very thorough," said Mr Pyle.
