Australian bank bid may revive battle for LSE

THE battle for control of the London Stock Exchange (LSE) could jump into life this week after the Australian bank leading the chase appointed Goldman Sachs as financial advisor.

Macquarie Bank teamed up with the takeover experts, sparking fresh speculation that a hostile bid for the LSE could come as early as next week.

And according to weekend reports, the New York Stock Exchange is also considering a bid.
