Newspaper group announces appointments

MEDIA group Thomas Crosbie Holdings (TCH) has announced a number of new appointments within the group.

Tom Geoghegan, chief executive of The Nationalist & Leinster Times becomes regional director with responsibility for The Nationalist & Leinster Times (Carlow), Kildare Nationalist, Laois Nationalist and Waterford News & Star.

Before being appointed chief executive, Mr Geoghegan was the group’s managing director and general manager and has more than 35 years’ experience in the newspaper industry.

Mr Geoghegan served as president of the Regional Newspaper Association for three years between 1994-1996 and is currently an executive member of the association.

He was a member of the Paper and Print Industry Training Committee with FÁS for 10 years and is a director of Carlow County Enterprise Board and IBEC representative on Carlow County Council Infrastructure and Strategic Policy committee.

Christian Jago-Byrne, meanwhile has been appointed as general manager of The Nationalist & Leinster Times. Mr Jago-Byrne has been sales and marketing manager with the title since 2003.

Prior to that he worked at senior level for Interactive Return, and McConnells Advertising.

Barbara Sheridan was appointed to the position of general manager of the Laois Nationalist.

Ms Sheridan has been news editor with the title since 2003 having joined The Nationalist in 1979. Anthony Murphy continues as general Manager of the Kildare Nationalist.

TCH managing director Anthony Dinan said: “These appointments lay the foundations for the future development of these four regional titles and reflect TCH’s commitment to its regional newspapers.”
