Irish Examiner readership swells to more than 210,000 a day
And the vast majority of Irish Examiner readers read no other Irish daily newspaper.
The Irish Examiner welcomed the latest Joint National Readership Review (JNRR) figures covering the period from July 2001 to June 2002. The JNRR report shows that readership of the Irish Examiner remained very solid at 210,000 readers daily.
The JNRR figures follow the recent Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) figures which show an increase of over 600 copies a day in the paper’s circulation. The Irish Examiner also recorded the largest sole readership among all the national morning newspapers, with 86% of its readers reading no other daily paper.
This highlights very strong reader satisfaction with the paper’s content and style.
The JNRR figures illustrate the broad appeal of the paper across all socio-economic sectors, solidifying its position as a newspaper for everyone.
Commenting on the figures, editor Tim Vaughan said: “It was particularly gratifying to have achieved an increase in the important female market. And once again the figures show that we have a very loyal readership base, with a huge percentage reading no other daily paper.”
CEO Padraig Mallon said: “The overall rise in newspaper readership was very encouraging for the industry. I am delighted that our newspaper enjoys such widespread support. The quality of our journalism and the dedication of our staff go a long way to making sure that our readers remain loyal and have huge respect for the Irish Examiner brand.”
