Nokia feels market pinch

Nokia Oyj’s market share fell in the first quarter to the lowest in about five years as clients picked clamshell and camera phones made by Motorola and Samsung Electronics, researcher Gartner has said.

The global market share of Nokia, the world’s biggest mobile- phone maker, dropped to 28.9% from 34.6% a year earlier, losing ground to all its competitors, Ben Wood, an analyst at Gartner’s British office, said in an interview.

Motorola’s market share rose to 16.4% from 14.7%, and Samsung’s share reached 12.5% from 10.8%.
