Prodi expects air row to be settled

Commission president Romano Prodi said he expects the US and Europe to settle the trade clash over aid to Boeing and European rival Airbus SAS once a new US administration has been put in place.

Mr Prodi said the US complaint to the World Trade Organisation over European subsidies for Airbus, the world’s No 1 planemaker, reflects election-year politics and will yield to a negotiated settlement.
